Personalized medicine is a treatment approach considering individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle. Participants will be introduced to various fields of PM and their methods.

To apply for this program you must be a student of a partner university of the University of Cologne or a student of the University of Cologne.

If you don’t know whether your university is part of the network, please inquire at your International Office.

Selection criteria

  • Grade point average of the university course
  • Grade point average of the English proficiency certificate (minimum of C1)
  • Quality of the letter of motivation
  • relevant extra curricular activities


The following documents have to be provided:

  • CV
  • Statement of purpose (no more than a single A4 page)
  • Transcript of Records for the previous two semesters (Transcript of Records I and II)
  • Demonstration of sufficient English-language ability (an Internet TOEFL score of 90 or more, an IELTS score of 6.5 or more, a minimum grade of a C on the Cambridge First Certificate, a minimum score of 750 on the TOEIC).

*If you are a native English speaker, you do not need to provide a language certificate.

In case you will be chosen as one of 20 participants by the admission committee the International Office of University of Cologne bears the expenses for:

  • accommodation (breakfast included)
  • public transportation ticket
  • courses
  • visits
  • excursions
  • welcome and farewell dinner and a barbecue.

Please note that travel costs to Germany and visa costs, meals, insurance plan and incidental expenses have to be taken over by the participant him/herself.
