We would like to point out that this program is a physically active program.

The program’s concept includes an eco-friendly behavior that allows the participants to experience the German means of public transportation. Therefore, the participants must take undergrounds, trams, trains, buses and walk a lot and also long distances during the the excursions and in the city of Cologne.

The field trips will take place regardless of the weather situation (cold, rain, heat etc.). Please ensure to bring adequate clothing, including long and short pants, rain and sun wear (umbrella, sun glasses, sun cream) and strong footwear that enables you to walk distances on all kinds of paths.

Furthermore we would like to inform you that the University of Cologne does not a have a compact campus. The courses will take place in different locations and the distance between your hostel and the university area is approximately 3 kilometers each way. Even though you will get a public transportation ticket you will have to walk to get to the buildings and canteens.

Structure of the program

You will be provided with a time table via email. Your punctual attendance in all lectures, field trips and excursions is mandatory for receiving the certificate granting 5 ECTS credit points. If you cannot take part in a mandatory unit you must inform Ms. Busch and Ms. Dikova indicating the reasons for your absence.

Please bring a smaller bag than your luggage, e.g. a small backpack and a bottle for multiple use. We will provide a city map and addresses of super markets, green grocers etc. near your hostel so that you can buy the food and drinks you need.

Medical disclosure

In case that you need any kind of support, such as a wheelchair or any other additional service, the International Office must be informed upon confirmation of your participation in order to take appropriate measures. The same applies to psychological conditions. Ms. Busch must be informed in writing of any medical condition that could call for action directly before or during your participation in the program.
