Deadlines

The deadline for application is Wednesday, 31 July 2019 at 23:59. Applications will not be accepted after this time.

Applications will be reviewed by senior staff at the Entrepreneurship Institute during the month of August. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday, August 30th.

Eligibility

The hardship grants are designed to help applicants through circumstances of exceptional financial hardship which may impair or threaten their participation in the 2019-20 King’s20 Accelerator as well as for the 2019 Idea factory finalists. Broadly, for the purposes of this application, financial hardship is defined as the inability to pay essential household expenses (such as rent, utilities and food) with current income.

Grants are only available to current participants (C-level) in the 2019-20 King’s20 Accelerator programme and for finalists from the 2019 Idea factory competition. They will only go to those who have an association with King's College London. Funding will be determined by financial need and is intended to help cover living costs during the accelerator programme.

Effective applications:

- describe concisely, but clearly, the reasons for claiming exceptional financial hardship;

- identify why the financial hardship is outside the applicant’s control, or otherwise unexpected;

- outline any other measures the applicant is taking, or has taken, to address their difficulties;

- identify one or more specific purposes/needs that the funds sought will meet or contribute to.

Guidelines for awards

It is expected that awards in the region of £500 to £1,500 per month will be made to eligible applicants throughout 2019-20. Award amounts are subject to change and the exact amount awarded will depend on the level of financial need and the overall number of applications received by the Entrepreneurship Institute. The maximum term of the grant is three months.

Measuring impact

The Entrepreneurship Institute will require a short statement at the end of the grant term explaining how the grant has been impactful.
