Requisitos

1.    Undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students from the Santander Universities represented countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, UK, Uruguay, and USA). A diverse cohort is desired, drawing students from the social sciences, history, law, business, technology, engineering, computer science, biomedical sciences, and physical sciences;

2.      Fluent in English, both speaking and writing

3.      21 years of age by the start of the workshop

4.      Eligible for a tourist visa to the United States

The Banco Santander Georgetown University Partnership on Social Economy is accepting applications from students interested in participating in a two-week, multi-disciplinary workshop. The workshop will examine key trends affecting social and economic inclusion and ask participants to develop innovative approaches and creative solutions.


Students should expect an interactive and practical learning environment that draws on real-world applications of innovation in addition to classroom-based lectures. Students will gain exposure to policy and practice by connecting to a network of researchers, practitioners, financiers, and policymakers. Cultural activities will complement learning goals of the seminars and allow participants to explore Washington, D.C.

Students will learn from thought leaders representing diverse institutional perspectives, including academia, policy making, non-profits, and private enterprise. Within this framework, students will work collaboratively to identify potential technological, commercial, and policy innovations designed to increase access to the financial sector as well as related economic, health, and education resources and opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to present their conclusions to a panel of executives at the conclusion of the workshop.

FAQs / Preguntas frecuentes de la beca

  • What does the scholarship include?

    The Georgetown University Santander Partnership will cover the workshop costs, room and half board (breakfast and lunch on weekdays). The student is responsible for air and ground transportation to Georgetown University and travel medical insurance, which is required to participate. In addition, the Partnership will provide logistical assistance and instructions for the visa-application process, if necessary, as well as the requirements for health insurance while participating in the workshop.


  • How will the applicants be selected?

    Finalists will be selected based on the following criteria:

    1. Academic Record
    2. Registration Questionnaire (available to candidates at www.becas-santander.com)


    The candidates scoring highest on criteria I and II above will be selected for the final selection process. They will be required to provide documents substantiating their academic record as well as a letter of motivation, the details of which will be sent to them by email and can be accessed at www.becas-santander.com.


    Up to 50% of the scholarships may be awarded to students with limited financial resources, provided that they meet the above eligibility criteria and that their financial circumstances are justified by one of the documents listed in the "Documents relating to the Scholarship" section.


    Finalists may be asked to provide additional information or participate in an interview with a member of the Georgetown University Santander Admissions Committee.
